Examples of Air Waybill/Consignment Note extracts
The IATA DGR specify that the “additional handling” information section of a consignment note / air waybill must be completed in a very specific manner. There are two basic statements that need to be spelt out exactly as follows:
i) For a passenger & cargo aircraft:
"Dangerous Goods as per attached Shipper's Declaration" or "Dangerous Goods as per attached DGD"
Please note: From 1 January 2025, the wording used on an Air Waybill must be "Dangerous Goods as per associated Shippers Declaration" or "Dangerous Goods as per associated DGD". You may use either "associated" or "attached" up until 31 December 2024.
ii) For a cargo aircraft only:
"Dangerous Goods as per attached Shipper's Declaration - Cargo Aircraft Only" or "Dangerous Goods as per attached DGD - CAO"
Please note: From 1 January 2025, the wording used on an Air Waybill must be "Dangerous Goods as per associated Shippers Declaration - Cargo Aircraft Only" or "Dangerous Goods as per associated Shipper's Declaration - CAO". You may use either "associated" or "attached" up until 31 December 2024.
There are only two abbreviations permitted as follows:
- DGD to replace Dangerous Goods Shipper's Declaration and
- CAO to replace Cargo Aircraft Only
The following are examples of a correctly completed “additional handling” section of an air waybill. The first air waybill is completed for a dangerous good that can go on both passenger and cargo aircraft. The second example is for a dangerous good that can only go on cargo aircraft.
For all classes of dangerous goods
The following example is of a correctly completed “additional handling” section of an air waybill when sending dangerous goods in Excepted Quantities.
